Week #12 Ironman Training

Week #12 Ironman Training
March 24, 2014 Jess

This week was all about recovery from the half marathon I ran last Sunday.  On Monday morning all the usual suspects were stiff and sore: hip flexors, glutes, quads and hamstrings.  Lucky for me I have the best job in the world for a recovering athlete – I teach hot, steamy yoga and Monday afternoon I received a massage which helped my recovery tremendously.  By Tuesday morning most of my soreness was gone.  I started taking MAP this week which I also believe helped everything move along quicker and by the end of the week I was feeling back to normal.  I was ready to train again although my triathlon training was about to be put on hold.

On Saturday I started an 8-day yoga immersion training with Live, Love, Teach as the first stop in earning my 500-hr RYT designation.  I’ve been teaching yoga just over a year and I am ready to absorb more.  Its been a big year….let me rephrase that, it’s been a HUGE year of evolution for me and I now feel ready to absorb more as I have let so much that didn’t serve me fall away.  I now have more room for growth and I hope to take my teaching to a higher level. Through the work I have done already in this training I have tuned more into my transformation as a yogi and this is allowing me to teach from a deeper place of love.  There is no doubt in my mind that I am exactly where I am supposed to be this week and  I am so very grateful for this opportunity.  Even though I am letting go of my triathlon training I am staying strong with several hours of yoga each day and fine tuning something far more powerful than my swim, bike and run muscles.
