Sabrina Houston, marathon swimmer and Ironman race director, is back with her husband and crew chief Matt to smackdown the 20 Bridges open water swim around Manhattan. This latest feat is the second stop on the way to finishing the Triple Crown of open water swimming before she turns thirty years old. We first heard about Sabrina’s life long love for swimming during podcast 170 just over a year ago after her Catalina Channel Crossing, and if you haven’t listened to that episode, I highly suggest you check it out.
In this episode, we discuss:
- training for marathon swimming when you can’t swim
- doughnut Thursday and honing in nutrition
- preparing within an 8-week window that has no room for error
- swimming scared the entire time
- the transition from sprint swimmer to marathon swimmer
- the swim of a lifetime
