In-Person (02:35)
even before you went on the trip and then afterwards. So yeah, what what was what was it about Iceland? 'Cause a lot of people I mean I know he asked
YogiTriathlete (02:42)
Yeah.
In-Person (02:42)
the question, but like it was just random people would have Iceland. Like the guy at Ironman had an Iceland hat on from Reykjavik. Like and it was just like random passings, live from Cuisine
YogiTriathlete (02:48)
Yeah.

Solutions. Her friend was in Iceland when you were there and like all this energy started to pick up around Iceland. So yeah, sure. Yeah, and my friend from high school who I haven't seen.

And I think we all kind of really absorbed that and we saw details about the island and the landscape and the life and the time together in a way that we may have overlooked if we always had these epic views. YogiTriathlete (10:20)
even on the part of the island where like the huge waterfalls are, but you could see huge waterfalls off in the distance. And because it was raining, the waterfalls were just yeah. There was probably more waterfalls than there normally are, right? Because there was so much rain. But the g I can't even describe the green. It was like it was like everything had a filter on it. Every lunch I'm having like a cup of coffee because the coffee was amazing. It started on the plane on Iceland air. The coffee was so good in the hotel, every restaurant. But we're on these basalt cliffs. it was so gorgeous. The sky had lifted, and we had this it's this view of a thousand islands. All these islands off the coast. So gorgeous. And Inga.

I blew it out and then we went back to Reykjavik and we had a free day and then everybody went out to dinner. I actually stayed in the hotel, went to the spa, went to the steam rooms. There were steam rooms like at
In-Person (13:57)
spa. When did do the steam rooms, there were steam rooms like it?
YogiTriathlete (14:00)
all the places. Went to the steam room and that was all good. But yeah. DM me about the primal screaming. It's very therapeutic. But
In-Person (14:03)
Yeah. DM me about the product. It's very therapeutic.
YogiTriathlete (14:07)
however, I will say that I didn't get what I used to get out of it. This was the first time that
In-Person (14:09)
This was the first time that I
YogiTriathlete (14:13)
I was like, wow.
YogiTriathlete (14:14)
I'm feeling like I'm pretty clear.
In-Person (14:16)
Maybe get l let all that stuff go. Yeah. Or majority of it.
YogiTriathlete (14:18)
Yeah. I think I only did two screams.
YogiTriathlete (14:20)
I feel like I only did two screams. and so maybe that was the my penance was like, Stop doing this, you don't need this anymore. But I'm happy to lead at any time, guide you through
In-Person (14:22)
and so maybe that was the my penance was like, Stop doing this, you don't need this anymore. Yeah. But I'm happy to lead it anytime
YogiTriathlete (14:29)
it, do a little video. yeah. All right. So should we throw it back to you for a question? Okay.
In-Person (14:31)
Yeah. All right. So should we throw it back to you for a question? Sure. Okay.
YogiTriathlete (14:35)
Gosh, it's fun to talk about this. I haven't even talked about the trip. okay, so I think I'd like to start with every great plan starts with the inspirational text. You had already signed up for Lake Placid, but then you were somewhere, I think you were at the pool or doing something, and you sent me a text.
In-Person (14:36)
about this. I haven't even talked about the trip. okay, so I think I'd like to start with every great plan starts with the inspirational text. You had already signed up for Lake Placid, but then you were somewhere, I think you were at the pool or doing something and you sent me a text.
In-Person (14:54)
I was on a run. You yeah, well that's a great time to make plans. I was on a run. Great time to make plans.
YogiTriathlete (14:55)
You yeah, that's a great time to make plans. Great time to make plans.
YogiTriathlete (15:00)
And you sent me a text. Mm-hmm. So tell me about that. Let's start with that. Cause we were gonna do Iron Man
In-Person (15:00)
And you sent me a text. Mm-hmm. So tell me about that. Let's start with that. Because we are gonna do our
YogiTriathlete (15:06)
Lake Placid. And you we were already set you were already set to teach yoga with cuisine solutions, sponsor of Iron
In-Person (15:07)
You we were already set you were already set to teach yoga with cuisine solutions, sponsor of iron.
YogiTriathlete (15:14)
Man. We've been partnering with them in teaching yoga and it is incredible. So we'll tell more about that.
In-Person (15:18)
is incredible. So we'll tell more about that. Yeah. It's
In-Person (15:22)
so tell me about your great idea. So my idea was I was gonna be in Maine anyway
YogiTriathlete (15:22)
So tell me about your great idea. So my idea was I was gonna be in Maine anyway.
In-Person (15:27)
and I would already have my bike with me. Cause I was like in all the itinerary
YogiTriathlete (15:34)
Itinerary.
In-Person (15:34)
and the planning it was like maybe I can get a car, drop it off here, have my family pick me up and then maybe rent another car and then like how would I get the bike it was just like I love watching like you're you're definitely broke.
YogiTriathlete (15:42)
I love watch like you're you're definitely growing
YogiTriathlete (15:45)
in your travel plans. Yeah. Like I love watching you trying to piece together as many rides as you can get. Then it was just like just get a car for the entire room. Run the car. Which I did and that worked out great. Yeah. but I was figuring I'm gonna have my bike there with me, I'm gonna be at the race site, I'm gonna be staying there, I'm gonna have fitness from Iron Man Lake Placid. Why don't I just race the next day and give it a go? And
In-Person (15:46)
Yeah. I love watching you trying to piece together as many brides as you can get. Then it was just like, just get a car for the entire trip. Which I did, and that worked out great. Yeah. but I was figuring I'm gonna have my bike there with me. I'm gonna be at the race site, I'm gonna be staying there, I'm gonna have fitness from Iron Man Lake Placid. Why don't I just race the next day and give it a go? And
In-Person (16:11)
I think we talked about this a little bit.
YogiTriathlete (16:11)
I think we talked about this a little bit.
YogiTriathlete (16:12)
But it's not out of my wheelhouse to do something like that. And I don't see that as like a big like shocking thing for me in my BJ's filter. It just seems like, yeah, that's gonna be challenging. Let's see how let's see how the body will show up for a half Iron Man after an Iron Man. and I think ideally it would be better
In-Person (16:13)
But it's not out of my wheelhouse to do something like that. And I don't see that as like a big, like shocking thing for me in my BJ's filter. It just seems like, yeah, that's gonna be challenging. Let's see how let's see how the body will show up for a half Iron Man after an Iron Man. and I think ideally it would be better
In-Person (16:33)
to do a half Iron Man first and then a full Iron Man, in my opinion. but in this instance it was just
YogiTriathlete (16:37)
instance it was just
YogiTriathlete (16:39)
this is the way that that it was and it allowed me to test things out which I definitely didn't learn a lot from one race and and applied it to the next so yeah I think just that epiphany of like I'm gonna have my bike with me I'm gonna be fit I'm gonna have everything and I'm gonna be
In-Person (16:39)
This is the way that that it was and it allowed me to test things out, which I n definitely didn't learn a lot from one race and and applied it to the next. So yeah, I think just that epiphany of like, I'm gonna have my bike with me, I'm gonna be fit, I'm gonna have everything and I'm gonna be
In-Person (16:56)
up there. Why not just race? Yeah. But you're leaving something out. What's that of the plan? What your goals
YogiTriathlete (16:58)
But you're leaving something out of the plan. What your goals
YogiTriathlete (17:01)
were. so my goal was to qualify for Kona in Plaza, do the double qualification. So qualify at Kona. qualify for Kona.
In-Person (17:02)
so my goal was to qualify for Kona in Placid, do the double qu qualification. So qualify at Kona, qualify for Kona
In-Person (17:10)
at Lake Placid. Why not? And then six days later do it get the Chattanooga qualification for seventy point three worlds in May.
YogiTriathlete (17:12)
six days later do it get the Chattanooga qualification for seventy point three worlds in May.
In-Person (17:18)
Why not?
In-Person (17:18)
None of that happened. Zero qualifications. for two. Well, and I love that. I mean I love
YogiTriathlete (17:19)
Zero qualifications. Over two. Well, and I love that. I mean I don't love it.
YogiTriathlete (17:25)
I wish we were going to Hawaii, but
YogiTriathlete (17:26)
What did you like
In-Person (17:27)
Like
YogiTriathlete (17:28)
in your mind, having qualified many times for seventy point three World Championships, qualified two times now for the Kona World Championship, what did it teach you by getting no
In-Person (17:34)
qualified two times now for the Kona World Championship. What did it teach you by getting
YogiTriathlete (17:40)
qualifications? Like what what was your expectation and and what did you learn from it?
In-Person (17:42)
Expectation and and what did you learn So So
In-Person (17:46)
to backtrack just one more step, like I wanted to win my age group in Lake Placid, right? And so then the negotiation started throughout the race of like I just need to finish, you know,
YogiTriathlete (17:50)
Right. And so then the negotiations started throughout the race of like I just need to finish, you know
In-Person (17:55)
top three or top five, because I've done that before and that got me a slot. so what did that share what did that show me? Not getting a qualification? It shows me that I really want to go. Like I really wanna be there in Kona and then
YogiTriathlete (17:59)
So what did that share what did that show me? Not getting a qualification? It shows me that I really wanna go. Like I really wanna be there in Kona and then
YogiTriathlete (18:09)
the second tier is like
In-Person (18:09)
second tier is I
In-Person (18:10)
wanna be there in in Chattanooga. And it shows me how
YogiTriathlete (18:12)
And it shows me how this
In-Person (18:15)
This whole experience, the whole two weeks, like showed me how much I enjoy this. Like I really do enjoy the training. I love the racing. I love the preparation. I love the nervousness that I still get and the anticipation and the the managing of the moments relentlessly to like pull myself into what I can do right now. And it just reinforces this is what I love doing.

YogiTriathlete (18:40)
doing this. I'm not ready to jump to trail running and or endurance swimming
YogiTriathlete (18:45)
or whatever else is out there. Right now, this just really really fills me up. I enjoyed the whole all the elements of it. them during and then connect with them afterwards is
YogiTriathlete (19:11)
is
YogiTriathlete (19:12)
for me, I'm not gonna speak for you, but that is like that was probably the highlight of the trip. Yeah. I could I I could imagine of and normally you're the
In-Person (19:12)
for me, I'm not gonna speak for you, but that is like that was probably the highlight of the trip. Yeah. I go I standing in front of and normally y you're the
In-Person (19:24)
you love that, like put put put yourself in there. And I love it too.
YogiTriathlete (19:26)
And I love it too. I
In-Person (19:28)
I haven't always loved it. It's been uncomfortable for me in the past. I love it now. Like I love being up on the stage, talking to people, showing them, breathing, watching them,
YogiTriathlete (19:28)
haven't always loved it. It's been uncomfortable for me in the past. I love it now. I love being up on the stage, talking to people, showing them, breathing, watching them.
In-Person (19:39)
having those little moments when it's you just laugh and it's like, you know, other side, you know, like your other right, you know, most often. And just connecting. And that was brought to us through Cuisine Solutions, which have have been so incredible.
YogiTriathlete (19:41)
It's like, you know, other side, you know, like your other right, you know, most often. And just connecting. And that was brought to us through Cuisine Solutions, which have have been so incredible
YogiTriathlete (19:54)
this year. working
In-Person (19:54)
this year, working
In-Person (19:55)
together with them and and maybe more in the future. And I love how we can sandwich this between what we did at Oceanside and now what
YogiTriathlete (19:58)
future and I love how we can sandwich this between what we did at Oceanside and now what
In-Person (20:02)
we did at Eagle Man and now Maine and what we'll do in Santa Cruz and Tri Cities. Yeah, it's it's really it's really, really
YogiTriathlete (20:05)
Santa Cruz, yeah.
In-Person (20:10)
an incredible, fulfilling experience. So that actually trumps, you know, teaching yoga actually trumps the races that I
YogiTriathlete (20:13)
And so that actually trumps, you know, teaching yoga actually trumps the races that I
In-Person (20:19)
did.
In-Person (20:19)
And I love that. I love
YogiTriathlete (20:19)
And I love that.
In-Person (20:20)
that you can have have it all. I think it really speaks to
YogiTriathlete (20:23)
I think it really speaks to
YogiTriathlete (20:25)
just our inherent tendency to wanna serve, you know, our meaning yeah, us, but like mankind, you know, humankind that I think
In-Person (20:28)
serve, you know, our meaning yeah us but like mankind you know humankind that I think
YogiTriathlete (20:35)
that we're here to care for each other, you know, and like when you can be in service like that, it's it's just man, it's it's such a drug. It's so amazing to be able to
In-Person (20:35)
Here to care for each other, you know, and like when you can be in service like that, it's it's just man, it's it's such a drug, it's so amazing to be able to

amazing family, relationship, job, everything. And this stuff can s can like elevate it. And it's just because getting space between stimulus and response in life.
In-Person (21:04)
Family, relationship, job, everything. And this stuff can s can like elevate it. And it's just 'cause getting space between stimulus and response in life,
In-Person (21:15)
that space can't be big enough.
YogiTriathlete (21:15)
That space can't be big enough.
In-Person (21:17)
Right. Right. So I yeah, it's just it's so incredible. One last thing on that. Yeah.
YogiTriathlete (21:18)
So I yeah, it's just it's so incredible. One last thing on that. Yeah.
In-Person (21:22)
Because you're talking about teaching, right? We live it to teach it. Mm-hmm. Is
YogiTriathlete (21:25)
Mm-hmm.
In-Person (21:28)
Like I walked away there with no qualifications, but I I use it as a platform to teach because what is your attachment to the here and now as to how things need to progress and be executed so that you get that outcome. And I keep focusing on
YogiTriathlete (21:33)
because what is your attachment to the here and now as to how things need to progress and be executed so that you get that outcome. And I keep focusing on
In-Person (21:46)
just knowing too much now of the ebbs and flows of life and the contrast that's necessary and that what my experien and I agree, like it would have been awesome to go to Kona, would have been awesome to already have my Chattanooga. That didn't happen. But I know something really, really good is going to happen. I I should say good, but something incredible is going to happen.

YogiTriathlete (22:08)
Because these didn't go as planned. So I understand there's a bigger thing at work here and and then you can feel the tendencies of the human mind where it's like, well when is that? When is that? Is it gonna be the next race? you better sign up for the next race because that's when it's gonna happen. And so no, it's not. That's where you maybe that maybe.

YogiTriathlete (22:26)
But that's where we get caught up again is we try to convince
In-Person (22:26)
But that's where we get caught up again is we try to control
In-Person (22:28)
the timeline. Instead, enjoy and soak up everything that happened in in those two weeks and then apply it to the next race and then see what happens and then apply it to the next one and the next one and go on this journey. Go on this path to freedom from the mind is really what it is. Like

I said I love all of what I experienced and I'm getting less and less attached to the intricacies of it on the other side of these finish lines.
In-Person (22:46)
I said I love all of what I experienced and I'm getting less and less attached to the intricacies of it on the other side of these finish lines.
In-Person (22:55)
they're really just launching pads to what's next. It's so true. Yeah. So same thing with the retreats, because you what you are experiencing like Iceland and Galapagos,
YogiTriathlete (22:55)
really just launching pads to what's next. I know. It totally it's so true. Yeah. So same thing with the retreats, because you what you are experiencing like Iceland, Galapagos,
In-Person (23:07)
and you're gonna go to Guatemala and Bhutan and like
In-Person (23:09)
You can't say you can't say like and cling to like this is the one time, this is it. It's like be there for that group and then move on and take what you can into the next group of of of travelers. Yeah, I mean if there's one thing I've learned, never say never, right? I mean if I if that was true then I would

Yeah, I mean if there's one thing I've learned, never say never, right? I mean if I if that was true, then I wouldn't
YogiTriathlete (23:27)
have ever done a triathlon. I finished my first triathlon.
In-Person (23:29)
'cause you did say that. I did say that. After I finished my first triathlon,
In-Person (23:33)
you said you're not gonna do it ever. I said I would never ever do a triathlon ever. That was two thousand and four. I was not interested. And then I wanted to be the best massage therapist. I wanted to take all the athletes in Boulder for
YogiTriathlete (23:35)
I said I would never ever do a troathlon ever. It was 2004. I was not interested. And then I wanted to be the best massage therapist. I wanted to take all the athletes in Boulder for
YogiTriathlete (23:46)
me. And I thought, well, maybe I'll do a trathlon because I want to know what they're going through. Yeah. I want to have that experience. It was smart. It was smart. Yeah. But then I got hooked. So here we are,
In-Person (23:51)
Right through. Yeah. I want to have that. It was smart. It was smart. It was smart. Yeah. But then I got hooked. So here we are.
YogiTriathlete (23:58)
22, 21. I don't even know. I can't even count anymore. 2 years later. Two years later. Yep.
In-Person (24:00)
Twenty two. Twenty two years later. Two years later. Yep.
YogiTriathlete (24:04)
Twenty-two
YogiTriathlete (24:05)
years later, here we are. and feeling good. And I think a lot of that is yoga. it's mindset and swimming. Swimming. Swimming is it swimming is so big. It's so big. let's talk a little bit about well, what
In-Person (24:10)
Swimming. Swimming swimming is that. Swimming is so big. So big. let's talk a little bit about well
YogiTriathlete (24:19)
did you learn? Like what's overall, I love that
In-Person (24:20)
Overall I love that.
YogiTriathlete (24:22)
like what you took away from not qualifying was your answer. It just shows your mindset. Like your answer was that that you love the sport.
In-Person (24:26)
It just shows your mindset. Like your answer was that you love the sport
In-Person (24:31)
and you won it, and you're okay with.
YogiTriathlete (24:31)
And you want it and you're okay with
YogiTriathlete (24:33)
how long it takes. but what was the let's talk about Lake Placid specifically. 'cause that didn't go as planned as far as but you risked it for the biscuit, sounds like on the bike. I'd like to hear more about that. Yeah, I think we'd all like to hear more about that. And what the biggest lesson was that you learned
In-Person (24:35)
Let's talk about Lake Placid specifically, because that didn't go as planned as far as but you risked it for the biscuit, sounds like on the bike. I'd like to hear more about that. Yeah, I think we'd all like to hear more about that. And what the biggest lesson was that you learned.
YogiTriathlete (24:53)
because you've been doing this for, like we said, twenty plus years.
In-Person (24:56)
years
YogiTriathlete (24:57)
And the thing I love about Iron Man, you can't get lazy. Like you cannot get lazy. I think you can fake a half Iron Man. You cannot fake an Iron Man.
In-Person (24:58)
and the thing I love about Iron Man, you can't get lazy. Like you cannot get lazy. I think you can fake a half Iron Man. You cannot fake an Iron
In-Person (25:05)
Man. No. You cannot. No. So
YogiTriathlete (25:08)
So
YogiTriathlete (25:08)
not that a half Iron Man, I mean, is that is not easy either. I was talking to my sister the other day and she's like, you're trading for I'm like, Yeah, Santa Cruz. She's like, cool. And I was like, Hold on a second, let's just pause for a second. It takes a lot, you know, like but I think our families are so just like, whatever, Iron Man, half Iron Man, Ultramar, like whatever. It gets so normalized. And it's important for all of us to pull back and realize that.
In-Person (25:12)
sister the other day and she's you're trading for I'm like, Yeah, Santa Cruz. She's like, cool. And I was like, hold on a second, let's just pause for a second. It takes a lot, you know, like but I think our families are so just like used to what we're doing. man, happy alternate, like whatever. It gets so normalized. And it's important for all of us to pull back and realize that
YogiTriathlete (25:31)
it's still a very small percentage of
In-Person (25:32)
it's still a very small percentage
YogiTriathlete (25:34)
people that will ever do this and it does require a lot. You know, I am I'm feeling it now, like what it requires to really do my best in Santa Cruz. And it's a lot of discipline and a lot of devotion and I love it. And it's temporary, so go all in.
In-Person (25:41)
in Santa Cruz and it's a lot of discipline and a lot of devotion and I love it. And and it's temporary getting up getting up when you
In-Person (25:48)
don't want to get up and doing the workout when you don't want to do the workout and like it takes all of that. Yeah it takes all those moments.
YogiTriathlete (25:54)
Yeah, it takes all of that. It takes all of that. So all right, I want to hear a little bit more about how you risked it on
YogiTriathlete (26:00)
the bike, any standout moments from the swim and yeah, what was your biggest takeaway and how did that risking it on the pushing it on the bike affect your run? Yeah, I think the lead up to this race was really I don't think there was anything
In-Person (26:01)
standout moments from the swim and yeah, what was your biggest takeaway and how did that risking it on the pushing it on the bike affect your run? Yeah, I think the lead up to this race was really good. I don't think there was anything
YogiTriathlete (26:18)
that didn't go well in this lead up. I was feeling really strong.
In-Person (26:18)
That didn't go well in this lead up. I was feeling really strong.
In-Person (26:22)
still, you know, working through my shoulder stuff. So
YogiTriathlete (26:22)
still, you know, working through my shoulder stuff, so
In-Person (26:26)
that has turned a big corner. So yeah, I was ready for the race, ready to race it. Like win your age group means you need to risk it. So the swim. Swim was awesome. Love that swim. I'm literally within one to two minutes every time on that swim, 105 to 107,
YogiTriathlete (26:29)
So yeah, I was ready for the race, ready to race it. Like when your age group means you need to risk it. So the swim. Mm-hmm. Swim was awesome. Love that swim. I literally within one to two minutes every time on that swim, one five to one seven.
In-Person (26:43)
all the time.
In-Person (26:43)
I love it. I felt really strong. I found a good I found a good pathway all the way around. First thing I do when I get there in Lake Placid is get in the lake. And then every day before the race, I'm in the lake connecting with it. out of the water, in onto the bike, and of course it had rained two days before.
YogiTriathlete (26:48)
First thing I do when I get there in Lake Plaza is get the lake, and then every day before the race, I'm in the lake, connecting with it. out of the water, in onto the bike, and of course, it had rained two days before and
In-Person (26:59)
and really, really wet. and then race day was supposed to be overcast and a little bit cooler. It turned out that the sun disappeared. I mean the clouds disappeared and as I was descending Keen on the first loop of the bike, which is about, I don't know, eight or ten miles
YogiTriathlete (26:59)
really, really wet. and then race day was supposed to be overcast and a little bit cooler. It turned out that the sun disappeared. I mean the clouds disappeared, and as I was descending Keen on the first loop of the bike, which is about, I don't know, eight or ten miles.
In-Person (27:14)
into the race, the sun was like, like here it was. So beautiful. so beautiful when it breaks through.
YogiTriathlete (27:14)
So beautiful. So beautiful.

want everyone to feel the experience of what does it feel like on that descent into Keene, like with the mountains around you? Like what's the view? Bring me the bring me into the view.
In-Person (27:37)
So
In-Person (27:40)
It's that first
YogiTriathlete (27:40)
It's that first
In-Person (27:42)
stretch where you're descending and you can see the mountains in the distance. It's actually before the descent. It's right by the

In-Person (27:49)
river where you ki it's undulating but nice and f flat and fast. And that's where you can kinda see the mountains in the background. When you're descending Keene for six miles,
YogiTriathlete (27:53)
see the mountains in the background. When you're descending Keene for six miles
In-Person (27:58)
it's it's beautiful and gorgeous. You really can't see the mountains, but you you're just lined by greenery.
YogiTriathlete (27:58)
It's it's beautiful and gorgeous, you really can't see the mountains, but you you're just lined by greenery
YogiTriathlete (28:04)
and the the road conditions are really smooth and you you're flying at thirty five to forty five miles an hour and you're descending into this pocket

of I don't know, I always feel like it's cooler down there in Keene. Like I feel like the the air temperature changes you descend down there. and it's like it's like a
YogiTriathlete (28:16)
feel like it's cooler down there in Keene. Like I feel like the air temperature changes you descend down there. And it's like it's like a
YogiTriathlete (28:24)
badge of honor on this course to like descend down it and then once you finish the descent then it's like go time because you take a left in Keene and you have this nice like five or six mile stretch of arrow position riding which a little bit of undulations but it's just like it's awesome. It's just such a cool

It's just such a cool,
In-Person (28:41)
cool stretch. Anyway, the descent though, I had the first I would say the first mile, I had I had a little bit of fear.
YogiTriathlete (28:41)
Cool stretch. Anyway, the descent though, I had the first I would say the first mile, I had I had a little bit of fear.

two things. One, the wind was really strong this day. It was they said it was probably the strongest wind they've had ever.

two things. One, the wind was really strong this day. It was they said it was probably the strongest wind they've had ever

at Lake Placid. Like all the years they say they're gonna have it, it never really comes. And then they said they they collected it all and just delivered it out on this day.

at Lake Placid. Like all the years they say they're gonna have it, it never really comes. And then they said they they collected it all and just delivered it out on this day.
In-Person (29:05)
so the descent was a little wonky and it's good to descend and see the rider in front of you and see when they have that little herky jerky movement from the side guss and you can adjust appropriately by getting up on your hoods and and you know relaxing your shoulders a bit. So I had a little bit of like, okay, I'm not gonna descend as fast as I wanted to.

Feeling a little bit of swirliness, and then after that mile.
In-Person (29:26)
I feel in a little bit of swirliness and then after that mile
In-Person (29:29)
the sun came out and I was just something shifted. Maybe it was the light. You know, I've been feeding the light a lot, like go to

light, feed the light. And I just became, I guess, more confident in that descent and then ripped it down. But I all day I was battling the wind, I was battling some lower back

And I just became, I guess, more confident in that descent and then ripped it down. But I all day I was battling the wind, I was battling some lower background.
In-Person (29:50)
pain.
In-Person (29:51)
And the immediately the mind goes to like I didn't do enough arrow work outside. I've done that before. And I'm like, this is not helpful. Like,
YogiTriathlete (29:54)
Yeah, I think it's a great time to put it.
In-Person (30:00)
bring it back. I fuel every 10 minutes. So to to come back to now is every ten minutes. Like fuel right here. Like do some nine minutes of work and then fuel. Nine minutes of work, fuel. And so you do that six hours,
YogiTriathlete (30:11)
So you do that six hours.
In-Person (30:13)
that's like what, sixty times?
In-Person (30:15)
Six times, six, no thirty, six times. over and over again. So yeah, I pushed it on the bike. I
YogiTriathlete (30:15)
six times, six hundred thirty, six times. over and over again. So yeah, I pushed it on the bike, I
In-Person (30:21)
I had a mechanical twice with my rear hub, which I knew about. It's just details, guys. Details. probably cost me probably cost me a slot, I would say. Probably cost me the slot. Five to ten minutes, trying to fix that up.
YogiTriathlete (30:29)
Cost me, probably cost me a slot, I would say. Probably cost me the slot. Five to ten minutes trying to fix that up.
In-Person (30:37)
and then took it home.
In-Person (30:38)
And that did impact my run, although my first part of the run it took you that long took me at least five or six minutes. We've talked. He's hinted to the fact that there wasn't a mechanical Well, you knew about it. What would you would you have done something?
YogiTriathlete (30:38)
And that did impact my run, although my first part of the run I didn't know it took you that long to see this is the first time we've t we've talked. He's hinted to the fact that there wasn't a mechanical. Now you knew about it. What would you would you have done something
YogiTriathlete (30:54)
different prior to going into the race?
In-Person (30:57)
Yeah, just re
In-Person (30:57)
replace the components of it.
In-Person (30:59)
Yeah. But I had evidence that it was fine most times. 'Cause I kept writing outside and it was fine. Every now and then it would it would act up. So yeah, just details. I know
YogiTriathlete (31:09)
Details.
In-Person (31:11)
this. Right? Doesn't ha it doesn't
YogiTriathlete (31:12)
Doesn't h it doesn't
In-Person (31:13)
help when you know it and don't act upon it. Right? Awareness. So yeah, you constantly learn. Yeah. You learn.
YogiTriathlete (31:18)
Yep. You're learning. always
YogiTriathlete (31:20)
learnin'.
In-Person (31:23)
And then the first part of my run,
In-Person (31:24)
I did run a 145 to start. So I was right on pace for a three thirty. Right on pace. You were. I was watching it. Yeah. And then I actually had to hold myself back the first few
YogiTriathlete (31:27)
For three thirty. Right on pace. You were. I was watching it. Yeah. And then I actually had to hold myself back the first few.

miles. I tried something different with nutrition. You know, didn't take in enough sodium, I don't believe, and I'm a heavy sweater. I don't have a actual
YogiTriathlete (31:34)
I tried something different with nutrition, you know, didn't take in enough sodium, I don't believe, and I'm a heavy sweater. I don't have an
In-Person (31:41)
reason why that was the case. But again. Look at the look at the hair flying.
YogiTriathlete (31:43)
Look at the terrible.
In-Person (31:49)
Okay, settle down, right here. Good boy. Down. Good boy. So learned a lot on the run and then it was a battle of stay with it 'cause you know I wanted to quit, wanted to walk.
YogiTriathlete (31:55)
Stay with it 'cause you know quit. When it's
In-Person (31:58)
And I just kept moving forward, kept picking myself up. I had Claire out there, she was so good, she was like in my face. She's like, You're in seventh place. Fifth place is up there, you gotta go. Like she
YogiTriathlete (32:00)
up I had Claire out there she was so good she was like in my face it's like you're in seventh place the place is up there you gotta go yeah she was
In-Person (32:10)
was my person on the ground, which was awesome.
YogiTriathlete (32:12)
It's so interesting to watch the tracker though. Like I was texting
In-Person (32:12)
it's so interesting to watch the tracker though, like I was texting
YogiTriathlete (32:16)
with her husband Colin. I was just like, he's running faster than like five guys in front
In-Person (32:17)
just like he's running faster than like five guys and
YogiTriathlete (32:21)
of him. But like they because of the swim starts and everything, like you just don't know.
In-Person (32:22)
Like they because of the swim starts and everything, like you just don't know.
YogiTriathlete (32:26)
but but Claire was on the ground. she's one of your longtime athletes. Yeah. And Bridget from Endurance Squad killed it. Ninth ninth in her age group,
In-Person (32:30)
She was she raced too. Yeah, and Bridget from Endurance Squad. Yeah, it was so good to see her.
YogiTriathlete (32:38)
and like possible
YogiTriathlete (32:39)
She was in Costa Rica with us this April. It's just yeah, love her. Love her. Congratulations, Bridget. Congratulations, Claire. She got a killer PR
In-Person (32:47)
Killer P.
YogiTriathlete (32:47)
on the swim and did a loop of the bike and it was kind of planned that anything was a was a massive win for her that day.
In-Person (32:55)
Getting to that start
In-Person (32:56)
line, as you guys know, that can be the win. Yeah. That can be the win. All right. So that's that's placid. Okay, so biggest lesson.
YogiTriathlete (32:58)
Yep. Yep. Really amazing. So that's that's placid. Okay, so biggest lesson.
In-Person (33:04)
stick with stick with the fueling plan that you know works, I would say.
YogiTriathlete (33:04)
Stick with stick with the fueling plan that you know works. I would say.
In-Person (33:08)
Yeah. Yep. Yep. It's pretty simple. So you were
YogiTriathlete (33:08)
Yep. It's pretty simple.
YogiTriathlete (33:11)
So you were, I'll give you my side of what was happening with the because you were texting me and I was in the airport in Seattle.
In-Person (33:15)
texting me and I was in the airport in Seattle.
YogiTriathlete (33:18)
I was in the I was in the I was in the club with Trisha who was on the trip. we had a we had a heavy a Trisha heavy trip. We had three Trisha's on the trip. so Trisha from Vegas and I was in there and you were texting me and you were asking and I was like, this is interesting. And you were like, should I do this? And then I was like
In-Person (33:23)
We had a we had a heavy a Trisha heavy trip. We had three Trisha's on the trip. so it Trisha from Vegas and I was in there and you were texting me and you were asking and I was like, This is interesting And you were like, Should I do this? And then I was like
YogiTriathlete (33:36)
And and in my mind I was like,
In-Person (33:36)
and and in my mind I was like
YogiTriathlete (33:40)
he wants me to give him the an like he wants me to you would just it felt to me that he wanted me to give you the answer. Do this, do that. And my answer would have been like, What why are you thinking about this now? So I was kind of asking questions back to you to like just let you figure out what you were gonna do and and and yeah, we were like watching it come in and and
In-Person (33:40)
me to give him the an like he wants me to you just it felt to me that he wanted me to give you the answer. Do this, do that. And my answer would have been like what why are you thinking about this now? So I was kind of asking questions back to you to like just let you figure out what you were gonna do and and and yeah we were like watching it come in and and
YogiTriathlete (33:59)
and Trisha and she's she's like, I'm a Capricorn too. So like
In-Person (33:59)
And Trisha and she's she's like, I'm a Capricorn too. So like
In-Person (34:02)
he's he's doing something risky here, he's doing something new and he needs you to s tell him that it's okay, like it's in the rules. I'm like, I don't think it is okay though. I really think he just needs to do what he knows works. But it sounded to me like it it was a good plan. So I don't think it was like this No, it wasn't like this is crazy. It's it but in my

YogiTriathlete (34:20)
mind I was like, It's the day before the race, what are we doing? It's basically what I do on my long weekend sessions. Yes, and training.
In-Person (34:23)
It's basically what I do on my long weekend sessions. Yes. In training.
In-Person (34:27)
There's a lot of things
YogiTriathlete (34:27)
There's a lot of things
YogiTriathlete (34:28)
that happen in that mind of yours that I have no idea about. Like literally, how many times have I said to you, like, I know you think you're answering me, but you're answering me in your head? And you're like, yeah, I am. Yeah. So so then I so I don't know how calculated this was or whatever, but I was it was it was yeah. I was just like, Okay, I'm just gonna let him feel it out, find his decision. Cause I think my thing was like, Okay, well then that that sounds like it's a good plan then.
In-Person (34:36)
me in your head and you're like, yeah, I am. Yeah. So so then I so I don't know how calculated this was or whatever, but I was it was it was yeah, I was just like, okay, I'm just gonna let him feel it out, find his decision, because I think my thing was like, okay, well then that that sounds like it's a good plan then.
In-Person (34:55)
And it did actually sound like a good plan, but I yeah, I wouldn't have done
YogiTriathlete (34:55)
And so it did actually sound like a good plan, but I Yeah, I wouldn't have done it.
In-Person (35:01)
it. Yeah. But it's good.
YogiTriathlete (35:03)
But it's good,
YogiTriathlete (35:04)
partners out there. Just let your partner have the experience. 'Cause I don't know. It's not like I know the answer. It's not my race. Right. I just shifted
In-Person (35:04)
partners out there. Just let your partner have the experience. Yeah. Because I don't know. It's not like I know the answer. It's not like I didn't take it's not my race. It's like I didn't take in any fuel. It's just I just shifted.
In-Person (35:17)
when when
In-Person (35:18)
I'm pretty confident. I'm really confident in what I do for racing and then what I do for training being slightly different and that's okay. Like I'm confident in my system to know that on race day I know what works. So And it's so easy to look back and say, like, well, if I stuck to that before I know but you're telling me about wind, like you know how many calories you're burning and how like your system going down that descent in the wind, like how much that's taxing your nervous system, like
YogiTriathlete (35:30)
And it's so easy to look back and say, like, well, if I stuck to that plan, it w but you're telling me about wind, like you know how many calories you're burning and how like your system going down that descent in the wind, like how much that's taxing your nervous system. Like,
YogiTriathlete (35:46)
yeah, all of that is going to affect your performance and and whatever that looks like, it could have looked like the wind that the wind that day, not the wind
In-Person (35:46)
Yeah, all of that is going to affect your performance and and whatever that looks like, it could have looked like the win that the win that day, not the win.
YogiTriathlete (35:55)
with the whim. Or it could have looked like whatever.
In-Person (35:57)
Whatever.
YogiTriathlete (35:58)
could have been a complete blow up. Like it wasn't. It just it was what it was. So you take away the pieces, you take away the lessons, and you move forward with them. But and and you don't lock it in being like this is the thing that's gonna get 'cause you never know. That's not the thing, right? That's what the mind does. It's like well
In-Person (35:58)
could have been a complete blow up. Like it wasn't. It just it was what it was. So you take away the pieces, you take away the lessons, and you move forward with them. In-Person (36:14)
because you weren't an error position or because you didn't use it that's just
YogiTriathlete (36:18)
That's just
YogiTriathlete (36:18)
that's the mind seeking like one little thing that that is the root cause of all your pain. Right. Because it's always seeking certainty. And even like and and within that certainty is relief. And that's what the mind is trying to do. That's what we're all trying
In-Person (36:19)
That's the mind seeking like one little thing that that is the root cause of all your pain and that is not true. Because it's always seeking certainty. Always. Even like and and within that certainty is relief. And that's what the mind is trying to do. That's what we're all trying to do.
YogiTriathlete (36:38)
to do. We're trying to find relief. But the relief that we're looking for is from the mind itself. Right. Freedom from the mind. Freedom from the mind.
In-Person (36:42)
itself. Right. Freedom from the mind. Yeah. Freedom from thought.
YogiTriathlete (36:46)
You know, I don't think it was a bad thing. I think it was just the thing
In-Person (36:47)
No, I don't I don't either.
YogiTriathlete (36:49)
you did and that's that and I know you really well. And I was like, I could just see, like, I don't know, I know you really well. I could see through those words and I was like, Hmm, this is an interesting this is an interesting dialogue we're having. Just like tell me what's going on. Cause she likes to know. She went she's awesome. And we w we had a six and a half hour layover in the Seattle airport.
In-Person (37:09)
Seattle airport.
YogiTriathlete (37:11)
I don't even know. I think at that point we had already been up for
YogiTriathlete (37:13)
Twenty four hours. When you when you leave Reykjavik at ten forty five AM and you arrive in Seattle at eleven
In-Person (37:14)
When you when you leave Reykjavik at ten forty five AM and you arrive in Seattle at eleven
YogiTriathlete (37:20)
AM, it's very confusing.
YogiTriathlete (37:21)
then your flights at five o'clock. It's very confusing.
In-Person (37:22)
And then
In-Person (37:25)
your flight's at five o'clock. It's very confusing. I do not think I'm gonna do an overnight flight next time for Placid. yeah, I don't think that's a good idea. I think I think disrupting routine and I did that twice, I've done it before. But I think like doing a day trip, staying somewhere overnight, getting some good rest, and then heading out first thing in the morning for that five, five, six hour
YogiTriathlete (37:34)
yeah, I don't think that's a good idea either. I think disrupting routine and I did that twice, I've done it before. But I think like doing a day trip, staying somewhere overnight, getting some good rest and then heading out first thing in the morning for that five, five, six hour drive.
In-Person (37:48)
drive, I think is the
In-Person (37:50)
Is the way to go.
YogiTriathlete (37:50)
Well, I mean,
YogiTriathlete (37:51)
if you had all the accoutrements that I have for flights, I mean I am just stacking up my accoutrements for sleep on my flights.
In-Person (37:58)
Yeah,
In-Person (37:58)
you've got I don't want a lot of stuff. You've got a lot of stuff. I've got my newest thing, which is like my foot slap. Back to the retreat. Okay. swinging back to Iceland. Be or yeah, Iceland. because we see this when we hold camp
YogiTriathlete (38:01)
I've got my newest thing, which is like my foot sling. It's the best. Bascular retreat. Okay. Swinging back to Iceland. Or yeah, Iceland. because we see this when we hold camp.

and we do retreats ourselves and big immersions, those transformations that happen with with the participants, like
YogiTriathlete (38:15)
big immersions, those transformations that happen with with the participants. Like
YogiTriathlete (38:20)
I say it in Costa Rica all the time, 'cause I'm a participant or I'm kind of teacher and you see like they s they show up and they're just like
In-Person (38:20)
I see it in Costa Rica all the time because I'm a participant there. I haven't been a teacher. And you see like they st they show up and they're just like,
In-Person (38:26)
you know, maybe a little bit reserved and then five, ten days later they're just like dancing or and talking and and and a totally open and unreserved person. So did you see did you see some of that or or and when you do did does that like give you a sense of like you helped in that environment create the stew for

for for those shifts?
YogiTriathlete (38:49)
First and foremost, my job on these trips is to be the social glue. That's what the travel yogi calls it. You're the social glue, right? And as any leader, that that wasn't like I've just never heard that term before and I love that term. But anytime you lead a group, you gotta be the one that brings it together, right? And while still spending quality time with each person, right?

In-Person (39:17)
So what happens on these trips, is people come together really quick. Like, because y you are all of a sudden you come together as this organism, you have you like we're just gonna move together for eight days. and I love the moments in the airport because I'm me, right? And I'm like when I'm leading a trip.

and the first person I met was Trisha, who I I had already met 'cause she had been on retreat with us before here in Carlsbad. And we were on the same flight. I didn't even realize it. So in Reykjavik, like sometimes you like don't land at the airport. You like land like just I don't know, kind of like in the parking lot. Like not really a parking lot, but like just

One of my most frequent travelers spent a Patagonia, spent with Galapagos and now Iceland, with me. And then then the three of us were moving together and they're like clicking immediately to amazing women. And then you go to where like the pickup is, and then you see the guy, Frazi was his name, Frazi, he was so funny. We were like, we really hoped he was our guide for the week. But of course, at that point we didn't know Inga, who is just, yeah, a sister.

YogiTriathlete (42:05)
So we find Frazi and he's like, Okay, we got he It's really funny, it's the whole list. He's like, you know, he's calling everybody from their last names. He's like, So and so is over there. We're waiting for towns and you know, and okay, you guys are here and then we're just collecting people as the flights are coming in. California, Las Vegas. And now we're all in the car together. Right. And so I'm sitting up front with the driver
In-Person (42:38)
And now we're all in the car together, right? And so I'm sitting up front with the driver
YogiTriathlete (42:42)
and everyone's kinda quiet at that point, right? Because they haven't met each other yet. But we have this great driver, Frozi, who's funny and a little inap like inappropriate in a good way.
In-Person (42:48)
Funny and a little in like inappropriate in a good way,

Cutting jokes and talking to just telling us about Iceland, right? Like the tour has already started, telling us they first got their first two Starbucks and nobody's happy about it. so we were told not to go there. people that are already there that flew in early, very smart, because it's a seven-hour time difference from the West Coast. That's a big time difference. And then my brother arrives who's a blast. and he is the social glue just by his own dharma. and he already knows like Trisha from Colorado and stuff.

In-Person (43:42)
you know, just saying to each, okay, you guys, we gotta stay up, we gotta stay up. So now of a s now you've got that common goal. We all have to stay awake. And we go on a food tour. And the second place we go

my god. We do a shot of this forty percent alcohol liquor, this shot, and fermented shark. And you were like
YogiTriathlete (43:57)
We do a shot of this 40% alcohol liquor, the shot, and fermented shark. I you were like
YogiTriathlete (44:06)
reason number 78 why BJ will never go to Iceland. That became a theme of the trip. We're like reason number forty two why BJ will never go to Iceland. so it's this fermented shark. my god, I swear to God, like I smelled I felt like I smelled like fermented shark for like three days.

so yeah, so then you're just doing things like you're I mean, not everybody took the shot of alcohol. Like you don't have to. This isn't
YogiTriathlete (44:24)
so yeah, so that you're just doing things like you're I mean, not everybody took the shot of alcohol. Like you don't have to. This isn't
YogiTriathlete (44:31)
about coming and partying or anything like that. But now you're doing things like you're eating fermented shark. And that brings the group closer together, right? And you're moving as this organism. Now people are punchy, you know, now like some people are having beers, some people are having wine. You have no idea what time it is. You've been up forever, but you're having fun and the group is now moving together. Everybody's there. So

In-Person (44:53)
then we have our first yoga class. And then I get to experience all my swirly energy of like, am I good enough? Is this gonna be okay? I want everybody to be happy.
YogiTriathlete (44:53)
Then we have our first yoga class. And then I get to experience all my swirly energy of like, am I good enough? Is this gonna be okay? I want everybody to be happy.
YogiTriathlete (45:02)
I want everyone to feel taken care of. I want everyone to like the class, and then I just shake all that off and go and do my thing. And then that brings
In-Person (45:06)
And then that brings
YogiTriathlete (45:09)
us together, right? Doing yoga together and yoke, isn't it? Yeah, it means to yoke, to bring together, right? And you're just you're you're beyond tired at this point.
In-Person (45:12)
Yoke, isn't it? Yeah, it means to yoke, to bring together. Right? And you're just you're you're beyond tired at this point. and the sun
In-Person (45:21)
is sun never sets. So that messes with you.
YogiTriathlete (45:21)
Sun never sets. So that messes with you. Cause you're

like, I'm gonna go to my room. I'll be back down. Maybe we'll sit up and watch the view and have a glass of wine. We're like, my God, it's ten o'clock at night. I have to go to bed. It's like so confusing. but yeah, so there's the way just by nature of the trip, now whether that's Iceland, Costa Rica, Galapagos, Patagonia, whatever it is, just by nature of the trip, the group comes together quick.
In-Person (45:34)
but yeah, so there's the way just by nature of the trip, now whether that's Iceland, Costa Rica, Galapagos, Patagonia, whatever it is, just by nature of the trip, the group comes together quick.
YogiTriathlete (45:50)
Then, like by day two, you're getting pretty familiar. By day three, your family, like people are sharing stories. I've never seen as well, I shouldn't say never.

Then like by day two, you're getting pretty familiar. By day three, your family, like people are sharing stories. I've never s seen as well, I shouldn't say never.
YogiTriathlete (46:02)
I often see, how about that? I often see people laughing until they're actually crying. of course, my brother has a lot to do with that, with his stories. and yeah, it was just by nature of the experience, people are are who come on these trips are open to an experience that

YogiTriathlete (46:19)
open to connecting with other people and we all have this this like-minded anchor.
In-Person (46:19)
open to connecting with other people, and we all have this this like-minded anger.
YogiTriathlete (46:24)
We want adventure and we want to do it in a way where we're we're moving
In-Person (46:26)
And we want to do it in a way where we're we're
YogiTriathlete (46:31)
right on our mat. The yoga allows us to metabolize everything that we're experiencing because you're on the move with adventure travel.
In-Person (46:36)
experiencing because you're on the move with adventure travel.
YogiTriathlete (46:40)
and even on retreat like in Costa Rica next May with you, we are gonna be doing a lot and we're gonna be doing a lot of mindset and moving
In-Person (46:40)
and even on retreat like in Costa Rica next May with you, we are gonna be doing a lot and we're gonna be doing a lot of mindset and moving
YogiTriathlete (46:49)
and things like that, and we're gonna have a lot of downtime. And yoga on the mat allows you to absorb all of that, right? So whether it's a full itinerary or a lot of space, the yoga then adds this additional piece that just brings people together. So, you know, by day three we're family. By day four, there's there's, you know.
In-Person (46:55)
So whether it's a full itinerary or a lot of space, the yoga then adds this additional piece that just brings people together. So, you know, by day three, we're family. By day four, there's there's, you know,

people have nickname, they're nicknaming people, the person who's always the person who's always making the group late, which sometimes is me. and you know, all that stuff. I don't know, it just comes together by nature. It's really beautiful. my god, we

YogiTriathlete (47:21)
at like fifty four minutes. That's amazing. We're just riffing
In-Person (47:22)
Yeah, I just wanna plug in the computer. That's amazing. We're just ripping
YogiTriathlete (47:26)
on this. All right, we gotta this is very much like you were like, I want this to be conversational. We got the dogs calling on us, Clark's coughing into the microphone.
In-Person (47:28)
This is very much like you were like I wanted this to be conversational. Yeah. The dog's calling us, clucks coughing into the microphone.
YogiTriathlete (47:35)
Need to hook hook in the thing. So yeah, it's just i I guess what I'm saying is like, I love to be alone.
In-Person (47:36)
Yes, yes, yes. So yeah, it's just i I guess what I'm saying is like, I love to be alone.
YogiTriathlete (47:43)
I really do. I love to be alone, but there's something about these trips. Like, we had some pretty qu like I would say maybe introverts as well on the I I don't think that's a bad word to use. I don't think so. People who are a little bit more quieter, right? And man, I saw them laughing and
In-Person (47:45)
There's something about these trips. Like we had some pretty cool like I would say maybe introverts as well on the I I don't think that's a bad word to use that. People who are a little bit more quieter, right? And man, I saw them laughing and yeah,
YogiTriathlete (48:01)
Yeah, then then the transformation, right? So the friendships, but also the fear that was moved through. Hey, Andy. Come here. Andy come. Andy come. my God. If your mom watches
In-Person (48:02)
then then the transformation, right? So the friendships, but also the fear that was moved through. here, Andy. Andy come. Andy come. my god, if you're gonna watch this.
YogiTriathlete (48:14)
this, Andy. Andy Jean. that you know, we had
In-Person (48:15)
Andy. Andy Jean. the you know we
YogiTriathlete (48:19)
a day where th they were riding Icelandic horses and there was some fear that needed to be moved through. And so I was so
In-Person (48:21)
And there was some fear that needed to be moved through. And so I was so
In-Person (48:25)
not that I was grateful for the fear, but I was so grateful for the people who came forth coming to me and said, Can you help me with this? Yeah. And I mean that's why we're here. It's just like that's what I said like in my debrief with the travel yogi. I was like, I was so selfishly grateful that like they gave me
YogiTriathlete (48:25)
Not that I was grateful for the fear, but I was so grateful for the people who came forthcoming to me and said, Can you help me with this? And that's why we're here. I just like, that's what I said like in my debrief with the travel yogi. I was like, I was so selfishly grateful that like they gave me
YogiTriathlete (48:39)
an opportunity to really like work with things. And what were we? We were doing something. And I remember like standing up on the bus, and I was just like, all right, if anyone's feeling feeling fearful about this, like.
In-Person (48:44)
Something and I remember like standing up on the bus, and I was just like, Alright, if anyone's feeling feeling fearful about this, like
In-Person (48:50)
let me know. I there's nothing I love better than to over.
YogiTriathlete (48:50)
Let me know. I there's nothing I love better than to overcome,
YogiTriathlete (48:53)
like get to the other side of fear, you know, let's walk right up to it together. yeah. So there was, yeah, one time where I just sat next to one of the women on the bus on the way to s to something that there was some energy around. And I just sat next to her. I said, Do you mind if I just sit here and I'll do some breathing and you can join me? You don't have to join me, but is it okay if I just create some space here for you? And she's yeah. And that's amazing. So there's like these beautiful, tender moments.
In-Person (48:56)
Together. yeah, so there was yeah, one time where I just sat next to one of the women on the bus on the way to s to something that there was some energy around, and I just sat and I started said, Do you mind if I just sit here and I'll do some breathing and you can join me? In-Person (49:18)
and then there's like the fermented shark moment, and then
YogiTriathlete (49:19)
And then there's like the fermented shark moment. And then
YogiTriathlete (49:22)
yeah, like it's everyone connects over like their sleep and their sharing food and I mean, voucher wine. Like if the first couple of days wherever we went, we got a voucher for wine. So we'd all like we're like moving through these geothermal pools like up to the bar, like we get our voucher wine, you know. So yeah, it's it's really special and the transformation is inevitable.
In-Person (49:23)
Yeah, like it's everyone connects over like their sleep and their sharing food and I mean voucher wine, like the first couple of days wherever we went, we got a voucher for wine. In-Person (49:48)
The thing you always
In-Person (49:48)
talk about too about those retreats is the unscripted moments. So you have the the plan and the schedule and the day to day itinerary, but then there's the moments of like the laughter and the you know, the moments on the bus. Like it y you can't you can't script those. You have to experience them. Like the moment
YogiTriathlete (50:00)
Can't you can't script those. Yeah. Experience them. Like the moment
YogiTriathlete (50:03)
that I put mayonnaise on my pancakes because there was a sign behind it that said cashew spread. And I was like, this is cashew and I couldn't find the syrup. Nobody could find the syrup. And the syrup was right next to the pancakes. So there's so anyway, I'll keep going with this. So I'm like, it kinda looks like mayonnaise, but maybe they really whip up the cashew cream here in Iceland. Who am I to know? Right? And why would there be mayonnaise at the breakfast bar?
In-Person (50:10)

bit of like a all right, let's let's talk about we gotta we gotta make some shifts and let's talk about so it's kind of like this it's not a serious conversation, but it's like a trip leader's conversation. And and one of the other guests was sitting with us while we're having the conversation and took a bite into my pancakes and I was just like, my god.
In-Person (50:41)

In-Person (50:58)
my god, I think this mayonnaise on my band case was like so disgusting. But that became like a joke, right? Like throughout the whole trip. And those are the things, and there was other moments like
YogiTriathlete (50:58)
my god, I think this man is on main case was like so disgusting. But that became like a joke, right? Like throughout the whole trip. And those are the things and there was other moments. Like
YogiTriathlete (51:08)
I remember there was we were at dinner one night and somebody was like, Yes, this is the stuff that's not on the itinerary. The stuff that's on the itinerary is amazing. It's everything that's not out of the itinerary that makes it the the the top five the top five experience. Yeah. So
In-Person (51:11)
This is the stuff that's not on the itinerary. The stuff that's on the itinerary is amazing. It's everything that's not that makes it the the the top five in between. The top five experience. Yeah. Yeah. So
In-Person (51:25)
And we don't you can't anticipate those things. They just they just are created in the moment. You just bring a bunch of amazing people together. Yeah. Amazing stuff's gonna happen. And yeah, and within
YogiTriathlete (51:26)
don't you can't anticipate those things. They just they just are created in the you just bring a bunch of amazing people together and amazing stuff's gonna happen and yeah and within
YogiTriathlete (51:37)
an epic, incredible itinerary.

beautiful location. Always w beautiful locations. There was I will say there was this one moment. Well maybe maybe you you'll ask me this question.
YogiTriathlete (51:43)
Yeah, there was I will say there was this one moment. Well, maybe maybe you c you'll ask me this question.
YogiTriathlete (51:49)
I'll I'll I'll get back to it. Let's go. Just Well, there was this one moment where okay, so Inga had this microphone and she would tell us stories. And if for whatever reason she has this voice, like I was trying so hard to stay up to listen to the stories and sometimes I would fall asleep and apparently then I would ask questions about the stories that she
In-Person (51:50)
Just go. Just rip. There was this one moment where okay, so Inga had this microphone and she would tell us stories. And if for whatever reason she has this voice, like I was trying so hard to stay up to listen to the stories and sometimes I would fall asleep and apparently then I would ask questions about the stories that she
In-Person (52:10)
like that she was like I always know when Jess is asleep because then she always asks the questions about the things we talked about on the bus. But anyway, and then sometimes she would say
YogiTriathlete (52:10)
Like the she was like, I always know when Jess is asleep because then she always asks the questions about the things we talked about on the bus. But anyway, and then sometimes she would say,
YogiTriathlete (52:18)
I'm just gonna I'm gonna stop talking now and I'm just gonna put on some music. And by the way, Iceland is obsessed with nineties American pop. It's crazy. Brittany Spears, like the whole like no doubt. Is it Bjork from? Frazzi put on a little Sigar Rose because he was like, Let's just be a little cliche here. But yeah, we saw where Bjork

YogiTriathlete (52:38)
Did we see where Bjork grew up? I think she grew I think so. But she was gonna do like a a little local like concert or something in Reykjavik or something that maybe I fell asleep during that story. but anyway, there was this one time where she was like, I'm gonna stop talking. Of course, she knew what was coming. We knew we were on the way to Kirchhof, which is this insane
In-Person (52:41)
But she was gonna do like a a little local like concert or something. in the Quebec or something that maybe I fell asleep during that story. but anyway, there was this one time where she was like, I'm gonna stop talking. arrowhead mountain, and there's a waterfall. It's like so crazy. It's
In-Person (53:03)
So crazy. It's
In-Person (53:04)
there's a reel on my Instagram grid and it opens with Kirk Tfell. And so anyway, we're along the coast, so much ocean, so much coastline. We're on the coast, we're on the Snauthasnas peninsula, and we're driving on one of those gorgeous roads, and there's waterfalls, and this is the day that like the sun is starting to break and the wind is insane and the door is tied shut. And Inga's like, I'm gonna put on some, you know, some music. I'm gonna stop talking.

In-Person (55:32)
How do you recover
YogiTriathlete (55:33)
from an Iron Man and do a half Iron Man the following Sunday? Tell us about what your recovery was. What happens once you cross the finish line in Lake Placid?
In-Person (55:37)

In-Person (55:43)

In-Person (55:54)

That didn't feel so good. but they have a new asay place in Placid. And Claire and Colin went down on Saturday and got me an asay bowl and put it in their freezer in their hotel room, the Crown Plaza,

YogiTriathlete (56:22)
What are you gonna do with people like
YogiTriathlete (56:23)
this? They're so amazing. So when I finish call
In-Person (56:23)

YogiTriathlete (56:30)
my god. I didn't know this SIE story. That's incredible. Thank you, Colin.
In-Person (56:36)
I mean, amazing. I mean I feel like we can feel better about the whole thing too. Yeah, of course. Yeah. I think anybody
YogiTriathlete (56:38)
I mean I feel like we could say that about the whole dang team. Yeah, of course. Yeah. I think anybody
In-Person (56:42)
would have done it. on the team. 'cause they understand how much I love acceables and that that
YogiTriathlete (56:47)
And that that
YogiTriathlete (56:48)
what you put in you is so important. So important. So I did not have a chance to go

back.
In-Person (56:57)
back home or did I? No. I did not have a chance to go back home to where I was staying in Saranac. So I stayed there at the end of the race until midnight

YogiTriathlete (57:05)
But I had packed some food, some tofu, and
YogiTriathlete (57:08)
all that sort of stuff. So I had food, so that's really important. And then, you know, what's even more important is the next day, Monday, getting in the water, getting back in the lake, swimming. So I swam for about fifteen minutes. No wetsuit. No wetsuit. Still seventy-three degrees. But it's just it felt kind of crisp and cool, but that's so good for the body. lots of hydration, lots of electrolytes.

Getting off the carbs is what I d you know, like I started go back into the the broccoli, the tofu, salad kind of mixture. lots of juices. The bride home on Tuesday, I bought three juices and slammed three juices down. Nice juice. Look at you investing in the juice. I love it. It was like fifteen bucks for three juices. Is that little market still there? Remember
In-Person (57:31)
Getting off the carbs is what I d you know, like I started go back into the the broccoli, the tofu, salad kind of mixture. lots of juices. In-Person (58:05)
She doesn't own it anymore. Yeah. but it's still there. I didn't go there.
YogiTriathlete (58:07)

In-Person (58:34)
I did not
YogiTriathlete (58:34)

In-Person (58:35)
run, I did not bike, and after that swim on Monday,
YogiTriathlete (58:38)
Sure, my
In-Person (58:38)
I did not swim. My goal was to just nurture the body through rest and food and hydration in order to allow for Sunday to to be my best because I trust the process. I don't need to do any more.
YogiTriathlete (58:41)
nurture the body through rest and food and hydration in order to allow for Sunday to to be my best because I trust the process. I don't need to do any more.
YogiTriathlete (58:52)
I didn't feel I needed to do any more physical activity plus I wanted to be with my dad and we did two walks a day, so two to three thousand steps every time. And that to me, spending that quality time and and being with him was was good. Yeah.
In-Person (58:52)
I didn't feel I needed to do any more physical activity. Plus I wanted to be with my dad and we did two walks a day, so two to three thousand steps every time. And that to me, spending that quality time and and being with him was was good. Yeah.
In-Person (59:07)
And then Friday I drove up to Maine, still hydrating. How did you feel at that point? Thursday was the day I started to feel a a shift. Yeah. And I was like, I need two more days. I was like,
YogiTriathlete (59:07)
And then Friday drove up to Maine, still hydrating. How did you feel at that point? Thursday was the day I started to feel a shift. Yeah. And I was like, I need two more days. I was like,
In-Person (59:21)
Fantastic. Friday and Saturday. Two more days. I was already walking though on Monday. I wasn't I wasn't debilitated
YogiTriathlete (59:22)
Friday and Saturday. Two more days. I was already walking though on Monday. It wasn't I wasn't the building.
In-Person (59:29)
from moving around and bending over, so I was pretty happy with that. I think that's a combination of fitness, fueling. I also think the carbon shoes help a ton. I don't feel like
YogiTriathlete (59:33)
I think that's a combination of fitness, fueling, I also think the carbon shoes help a ton.
In-Person (59:38)
it really like taxes your leg as mu legs as much. And then
YogiTriathlete (59:40)
as much and then
YogiTriathlete (59:42)
you know really set myself up for another round of carb loading starting Friday into the race on Sunday in Maine. Tell us a little bit about well first of all, scale of one to ten. How did you do
In-Person (59:42)
you know, really set myself up for another round of carbloading starting Friday into the race on Sunday in Maine. Tell us a little bit about well first of all, yeah scale of one to ten. How did you do
YogiTriathlete (59:55)
on your recovery that week? I think I I did a nine out of ten. A nine out of ten, all right. I would have loved to swim more.
In-Person (59:57)
I think I I did a nine out out of ten, right? Yeah. I would have loved to swim more
In-Person (01:00:03)
and go to yoga more, but that wasn't in the cards. Yeah.
YogiTriathlete (01:00:05)
Yeah.
YogiTriathlete (01:00:06)
Yeah. Yeah. I'm sure your dad loved having you. And I know my brother came down to see to see you too. I know. He's like, I love that guy, Chuck. Love that guy. It's like
In-Person (01:00:09)
Yeah, it was good to hang you in. And see my siblings. And I saw your brother. Always fun. I know. He's like, I love that guy, Chuck. I love that guy.
YogiTriathlete (01:00:19)
I wanna I wanna go to I wanna go down to one of their family pool parties. tell us about Augusta. You seem to love the race. Why do you love the race?
In-Person (01:00:22)
Tell us about Augusta. You seem to love the race. So why do you love the race?
In-Person (01:00:26)
So let's backtrack and say I said I was never gonna do Maine, or not never, but I wasn't drawn to Maine because of a downriver swim, which I'm a solid swimmer. I'm a solid triathlete. Swim, bike, and run. So I wanna use that to my full advantage. So I like, yeah, downriver swim.
In-Person (01:00:42)
I'm so glad I had this experience. When I signed up for it, it was like, at the very least, I'm gonna get an experience in Maine. Because I've never raced this course before. It is awesome. It is one of the best courses out there, I believe. and it's so convenient. There's so much there's so much good about this race. Like two and a half hours from Boston.
YogiTriathlete (01:00:42)
I'm so glad I had this experience. When I signed up for it, it was like, at the very least, I'm gonna get an experience in Maine. Because I've never raced this course before. It is awesome. In-Person (01:01:01)
easy traffic. you can st you don't have to stay in town. You can stay fifteen, twenty minutes out and have no traffic getting in to town
YogiTriathlete (01:01:01)
easy traffic. you can you don't have to stay in town, you can stay 15-20 minutes out and have no traffic getting in to

for all the activities, the village race morning, the yoga on Saturday before the race. Over sixty five people. So cool.
YogiTriathlete (01:01:09)
Activities, the village races. The yoga. The yoga on how many people did you have at yoga? Over sixty five people. So cool.
In-Person (01:01:18)
For yoga. my god, it was like five minutes before and it was like two or three people, and then all of a sudden, all these people came. Boom. It was so cool. I so cool. And the people I met afterwards ready for it.
YogiTriathlete (01:01:23)
Boom. It was so cool. it's so cool. People are want they are ready for
YogiTriathlete (01:01:29)
it. And we are bringing it. It's mindset. It's mindset. Did you do the interval training? I did at the end. Nice. Did you do three minutes? I did thirty on thirty.
In-Person (01:01:29)
And it's just not yoga, it's mindset. It's mindset. Did you do the interval training? I did at the end. Yes. Did you do three minutes? I did thirty on, thirty
In-Person (01:01:38)
off, six times. So three minutes. Yeah, perfect. That's good. And I and also with the sun coming down, you don't want them to lay and shavasana for a while. Techniques, interval training. So bookend the
YogiTriathlete (01:01:39)
Three minutes. Yeah, perfect. That's good. And I and also with the sun coming down, you know, one of the lane. That's one of our favorite mind training techniques, interval training. So book in the
In-Person (01:01:50)
yoga with breath work.
In-Person (01:01:52)
Pre-race pranayama, which you can use when you're standing in line for the swim. Yep. Bookend it with an interval training, which allows you to purposefully and intentionally shift your focus away from what the
YogiTriathlete (01:01:53)
Which you can use when you're standing in line for the swim. Yep. We'll end it with an interval training, which allows you to purposefully and intentionally shift your focus away from what the
In-Person (01:02:03)
mind wants to think about to what you want it to be placed onto. And then in the
YogiTriathlete (01:02:07)
And then in the
In-Person (01:02:07)
middle, we get some flow and movement in the body so that you get some mobility
YogiTriathlete (01:02:10)
Get some mobility.
In-Person (01:02:11)
and matching movement with breath. All of that is directly related to.
YogiTriathlete (01:02:14)
is directly related to
YogiTriathlete (01:02:17)
endurance sports because I'm an end I'm an endurance athlete so I can tie
In-Person (01:02:17)
Endurance sports because I'm an I'm an endurance athlete. So I can tie
In-Person (01:02:20)
the yoga, the breath work, the interval training, everything into what you will experience on race day at Maine. And so people came up afterwards, they were really, you know, curious about about about all of it and our story
YogiTriathlete (01:02:23)
experience on race day at Maine. And so people came up afterwards, they were really, you know, it's amazing. Curious about about about all of it and our story.
In-Person (01:02:34)
actually, because I shared a little bit of that. so yeah, really easy I mean, easy to get into course logistics, so easy. You park across the street, there's tons of parking. What's bike course?
YogiTriathlete (01:02:36)
So yeah, really easy I mean, easy to get into course logistics, so easy, you park across the street, there's tons of parking. What's the bike course
YogiTriathlete (01:02:44)
like? Bike course is rolling, I think it's like twenty five hundred, twenty eight hundred feet of elevation. No really steep hills, but it's very undulated.
In-Person (01:02:44)
Bike course is rolling, I think it's like twenty five hundred, twenty eight hundred feet of elevation. No really steep hills, but it's very undulating,
In-Person (01:02:52)
very up and down. A lot like Massachusetts. A lot like Massachusetts. Open roads. Road conditions. Great. Great. And the and the roads that were a little like the there's a little out and back,
YogiTriathlete (01:02:57)
Okay, that makes sense. Roads. Road conditions? Great. Great. And the roads that were a little like that there's a little out and back.
In-Person (01:03:04)
which was a little bit of a a choppy section of road. They had it all spray painted of where the
YogiTriathlete (01:03:06)
choppy section of road they had it all spray painted of where the
YogiTriathlete (01:03:09)
where the stuff was. Awesome. Run course? Run course is really cool because you go it's basically from the village you go south and you go up this hill. You run through town, you go up the hill on this trail, like an actual rail trail, you do a turnaround and you come back. Then you run back through town and then you go on this other the trail that you walked on for the swim in the opposite direction, you go

where you went for the swim start, and then you go over this bridge, and then at mile ten at that point, you go up this major hill. Nice. Which doesn't stop. You go up the hill for about four minutes, and then you turn right and you go up the hill, and then it dips a little bit. Then you go back up the hill for another eight to ten minutes. And you're like, is this thing ever gonna end? And you go through this little turnaround in a parking lot. I'm glad it's not a turn like a

In-Person (01:04:01)
and then you start bombing down all the way back to the nine the finish. Only until you get to the final half mile. as you start to get back towards transition, there's that hill that you had to run up from the run, from the swim. yeah. Which was pretty steep. and so lots of crowd support, great aid stations, beautiful like scenery.

with trees and the other the other part is is wide open. But yeah. Finish line is cool. Yeah. Great race. I would totally do this race again.
YogiTriathlete (01:04:28)
With trees and the yellow the yellow part is is wide open. But yeah, finish line is cool. Yeah. Great race. I would totally do this race again.
In-Person (01:04:38)

YogiTriathlete (01:05:18)
This is so cool.
In-Person (01:05:19)
directly relational to what you will experience out on the race race course. And for those not racing, it is going to help in everyday life circumstances. The challenges that you face at work, on the commute, with your family, friends, like loved ones, like this is the stuff that that we created Yogi Trahlete for.

YogiTriathlete (01:07:05)
You know, double Iron Man's teach yoga at Iron Man, which always made sense to us. Just took ten years. But it didn't take take ten years actually, because we've been doing it all along. The first one we taught I taught was in two thousand and thirteen at Iron Man
In-Person (01:07:11)
Actually, because we've been doing it all. Yeah. The first one we taught I taught was in 2013, I remember.
YogiTriathlete (01:07:19)
Lake Placid. I was a brand new teacher. I had no idea what I was doing. And I just had this like knowing. Just do it just. Like what
In-Person (01:07:24)
Knowing just do it just like
YogiTriathlete (01:07:26)
are you what are you waiting for? Like what are you waiting for? Don't like
YogiTriathlete (01:07:30)
You don't know what's gonna happen tomorrow. And I didn't know where to start, I didn't know where to begin. And I called the Chamber of Commerce and ended up talking to Sue Cameron, who became a longtime friend, still to this day. she was worked in the Chamber of Commerce. And they let us use the Chamber of Commerce to record podcasts and things. Yeah. It was awesome because it was air conditioned. And we they would let Clark go in there. Remember Clark would go into the my God. You guys just if you have a hit on your heart, just follow it because it led to so much.
In-Person (01:07:36)

And I don't even know. I probably put it on Facebook or something back then, two thousand. I was such a nervous wreck. I was
In-Person (01:07:59)
And I don't even know. I probably put it on Facebook or something back then. 2000, it was such a nervous wreck. I was
YogiTriathlete (01:08:05)
like, I don't know what I'm doing. But I just knew I had to do it. I knew I had to do it, right? There's courage. It's like I was scared, but I did it anyway. And I think we had like eight people show up and I was like, my god, there's eight people. And I mean, I remember Santa Cruz, not Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa in twenty eighteen and it was pouring
In-Person (01:08:07)
But I just knew I had to do it. I knew I had to do it, right? There's courage. It's like I was scared that I did it anyway. I think we had like eight people show up and I was like, my god, there's eight people. I think there were more people than that. I remember Santa Cruz and not Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa in twenty eight. Santa Rosa, we brought up the tarp pouring
YogiTriathlete (01:08:23)
rain and it like it had been pouring rain in the w in the
YogiTriathlete (01:08:27)
We had reached out to the race director and he was like, Sure. And people showed up and we had tarps in our car because I just don't think we had like I think we were still were we still living? We weren't living on the road at that point, but for whatever maybe we just didn't unpack
In-Person (01:08:27)
out to the race director and was like, sure. And people showed up and we had tarps in our car because I just don't think we had like I think we were still were we still living we weren't living on the road at that point but for whatever just didn't unpack them. Yeah I think they were up
In-Person (01:08:43)
in the the the didn't we have a Tule no we didn't have a Thuli box so my god I don't know why they were there. We like put a car out and the park in Santa Rosa and everyone did
YogiTriathlete (01:08:45)
No. So anyway, we had we like put a tarp out in this park in Santa Rosa and everyone did
YogiTriathlete (01:08:53)
yoga on the tarp. you you reached out to the race director at Iron Man Arizona. Yeah, Wiscons how who did anybody show up for that? Like six Yeah, I had like a bunch of people for that. Yeah. So it's it's so by myself. Like Vijay had talked a little bit about the timeline,
In-Person (01:08:55)
I taught the race director at Iron Man Arizona. But also Wisconsin. Do you remember Wisconsin? Yeah, Wiscons how did anybody show up for that? Yes. Yeah, I had like a bunch of people for that. Yeah. And I was racing that. It was the first one I I done by myself. Like we today talked a little bit about the time.
YogiTriathlete (01:09:11)
right? Like we're just like well when's it gonna happen? When's it gonna happen? And
YogiTriathlete (01:09:14)
We just kept showing up and doing what we could do and being really vulnerable. Like it's vulnerable to stand there and like offer a yoga class that honestly back in two thousand and thirteen not a lot of people wanted and to do it anyway because it felt purposeful and i it was it's w why yogi trialete exists, like yoga and travel on and really has grown into endurance sports since
In-Person (01:09:28)
And it it was it's w why Yogi Travelate exists, like yoga and travel on and really has grown into endurance sports since
In-Person (01:09:36)
I got kind of the ultra running bug.
YogiTriathlete (01:09:36)
I got kind of the ultra running bug
YogiTriathlete (01:09:38)
and now we're coaching people who are doing all kinds of things, high rocks and and ultras and triathlon and and yeah, it's just like we just kept doing it and and swallowed those vulnerable
In-Person (01:09:45)
And yeah, it's just like we just kept doing it and and swallowed those vulnerable
YogiTriathlete (01:09:53)
moments or moments where the ego felt embarrassed or you know, you see like the
YogiTriathlete (01:09:58)
big tri groups going by with like thirty people on their shakeout run, like, you know, running through the yoga area, like not even noticing that we're there. And you just keep showing up. You just keep showing up. And why? We keep showing up because we knew that there would be a time where the tables would turn and people would be wanting this and they would realize the value of a well-trained mind and the the indescribable

virtue of peace of mind
In-Person (01:10:26)
virtue of peace of mind.
YogiTriathlete (01:10:28)
and calm and focus and and we're ready for it and we're here for it and it's never ever
In-Person (01:10:34)
Never ever.
YogiTriathlete (01:10:34)
will not be an honor to share it. So it's pretty cool. So we hope we see you guys in Santa Cruz. I think I think I'll speak to my perspective on
In-Person (01:10:37)
So it's pretty cool. So we hope we see you guys in Santa Cruz. I think I think I'll speak to my perspective on
In-Person (01:10:46)
that is like the belief that what we're doing is I I believe in what we do so firmly. And as we go deeper and deeper into this, we get a little
YogiTriathlete (01:10:47)
that what we're doing is I I believe in what we do so firmly. And as we go deeper and deeper into this, we get a little
In-Person (01:10:55)
bit more evidence. My belief grows stronger and stronger. But it ha you have to
YogiTriathlete (01:10:58)
But it ha you have to
In-Person (01:10:59)
have that belief first. Yeah. That what we're doing is exactly what we need to be doing. And then you get those
YogiTriathlete (01:11:00)
Yeah. Yeah what we're doing is exactly what we need to be doing. And then you get those
In-Person (01:11:05)
little
In-Person (01:11:05)
Those little hits. Like Yeah. Like in Maine, this older gentleman was there and I saw him checking his son in, into transition and he said I was asking him, I like, yeah, you did great in yoga, I saw you there. He's like, I used to do yoga a lot, but I haven't done it in so long and for that just to be reminded that you can move the body
YogiTriathlete (01:11:06)
pit. Like yeah. Like in Maine this older gentleman was there and I saw him checking his son in into transition and he said I was asked like, yeah, you did great yoga, I saw you there. He's like I used to do yoga a lot but I haven't done it in so long. And for that just to be reminded that you can move the body
In-Person (01:11:25)
and you can
In-Person (01:11:26)
reincorporate a practice that you liked doing back into your life. Like if I assisted in that just a little bit, I that that's enough. That's enough. Because I believe so firmly in what we're doing for the mind and body that you know, I wanna scream it from the mountaintops to the world and say, here's the here's the drug, here's the thing that will allow you to do an Iron Man one day and a half Iron Man six days later. Like the faith, the belief, the trust, the mobility,

In-Person (01:11:55)
the
In-Person (01:11:55)
fuel you put in your body, the environment that you build around yourself, like all of it. that's it guys. That's it. and that's what we offer here at Yogi Tra Athlete. so through the podcast and you know take it a step further in endurance squad, you know, become a member
YogiTriathlete (01:12:01)
it guys. That's it. and that's what we offer here at Yogi Traffly. so through the podcast and you know take a step further in endurance squad, you know, become a member
In-Person (01:12:12)
and and do a deep dive. I believe firmly in this thing. Yeah I'm so much so what we've been able to narrow down in ten years is endurance coaching.
YogiTriathlete (01:12:16)
Yeah, I mean what we've what we've been able to narrow down in ten years is endurance coaching,
YogiTriathlete (01:12:21)
mindset,
In-Person (01:12:21)
That's
YogiTriathlete (01:12:22)
and adventure. And it all enhances your life. So if someone is looking at adventure and they are
In-Person (01:12:25)
So if someone is looking at adventure and they're
In-Person (01:12:29)
like, my god, Iceland sounds really cool, but I can't go to I wouldn't want to go to Iceland, but I wanna go on an adventure with this person, like what do you think is what do you think is like a message you wanna send to them about first of all waiting or I'm your girlfriend like if you want to go on an adventure, I'm your girl.
YogiTriathlete (01:12:38)
you want to send to them about first of all I'm your girl. Like if you want to go on adventure, I'm your girl. Like
YogiTriathlete (01:12:45)
if you want equal parts adventure in peace, like I'm
In-Person (01:12:47)
Like
YogiTriathlete (01:12:49)
your girl. Like I really feel confident when I say that and and I don't want to come off like egoic you know, or like that I'm like tootin' my own horn. But like I was born for this. You know? I was absolutely born for this. When
In-Person (01:12:58)
Yeah, I was absolutely born for this. When I
YogiTriathlete (01:13:01)
I realized that yoga adventures existed, I mean I always knew I'd do yoga retreats and
In-Person (01:13:04)
retreats and
In-Person (01:13:05)
I mean even like our retreat next next year, like I was born for that, like swimming in the ocean, running on that beach, you know, teaching yoga, mindset, everything. I'm so excited. so okay, what was the question? They want to go on an adventure. Yeah, what would you say to
YogiTriathlete (01:13:05)
I mean even like our retreat next next year, like I was born for that. Like swimming in the ocean, running on that beach, you know, teaching yoga, mindset, everything. I'm so excited. so okay, what was the question? They wanna go on an adventure.
In-Person (01:13:19)
them to to mm curb the hesitation or the delay or yeah I think one of the biggest things that I see that I'm I confidently say is completely backwards is it mean it could be like a year out
YogiTriathlete (01:13:24)
Yeah, I think one of the biggest things that I see that I'm I confidently say is completely backwards is it mean it could be like a year out,
YogiTriathlete (01:13:32)
six months out, three months out. People will say, Well, I just have to see what my schedule looks like. And I think we have that wrong.
In-Person (01:13:32)
Six months out, three months out, people will say, Well, I just have to see what my schedule looks like. And I think we have that wrong.
YogiTriathlete (01:13:41)
I really feel confident about that. We got that backward. Not that we have it wrong, we have it backwards. We have a right to
In-Person (01:13:46)
We have a right to
YogiTriathlete (01:13:50)
adventure in this life.
In-Person (01:13:50)
adventure in this life.
In-Person (01:13:51)
And if that's on your heart, I think you have a responsibility to adventure in this life and explore and be a curious human and do things that like are way out of the routine. And then build your life around it. So if there's a I've got trips to twenty twenty eight right now. I've got whale camp with mommy and baby whales. They come to this bay in Mexico for a few weeks
YogiTriathlete (01:13:51)
And if that's on your heart, I think you have a responsibility to adventure in this life and explore and be a curious human and do things that like are way out of the routine. And then build your life around it. So if there's a I've got trips to 2028 right now. I've got whale camp with mommy and baby whales. They come to this bay in Mexico for a few weeks
YogiTriathlete (01:14:18)
every year. And that's how far I had to book it out.
In-Person (01:14:18)
Every year, and that's how far I had to book it out.
In-Person (01:14:21)
So February 2028, like and you can build your life around that. There are experiences in this life that are worth building your life.
YogiTriathlete (01:14:21)
So February twenty twenty eight, like and you can build your life around that. There are experiences in this life that are worth building your life
YogiTriathlete (01:14:31)
around. And if we're only building our life around our schedule, our routine, we're never gonna get out of that. So the first thing you need to do is people try and figure it all out at once.
In-Person (01:14:36)
We're never gonna get out of that. So the first thing you need to do is people try and figure it all out at once. I'm
YogiTriathlete (01:14:43)
I'm not gonna put my deposit down because I wanna figure out the flights first. There's not great flights right now out of so and so airport. Again, backwards. Put the deposit down. The d the deposits are reasonable. $500 if it's a bigger trip, $750, whatever. Between $500 and $750, put the deposit. I always say put the deposit down, dream away.
In-Person (01:14:43)
not gonna put my deposit down because I wanna figure out the flights first. There's not great flights right now out of so-and-so airport. Again, backwards. Put the deposit down. The d the deposits are reasonable. Five hundred dollars if it's a bigger trip, seven fifty, whatever. Between five hundred and seven fifty, put the deposit, I always say put the deposit down, dream away.
YogiTriathlete (01:15:05)
Put the deposit down, lock it in. Now you're committed. It's just like a race. Sign up for the race, do the training.
In-Person (01:15:05)
Put the deposit down, lock it in, now you're committed. It's just like a race. Sign up for the race, do the training.
In-Person (01:15:11)
Sign up for the trip, do the training. And I'm here for it. And the thing is, it's not just me, there's a team of women.
YogiTriathlete (01:15:11)
Sign up for the trip, do the training. And I'm here for it. And the thing is, it's not just me. There's a team of women
YogiTriathlete (01:15:18)
that run the travel yogi that are always saying to me, like, please let your people know that they can talk to us. and I think sometimes you it gets hesitant because they're like, they're gonna try and sell me. We're just gonna try and help you get clear on what you want and help you find the things that are gonna make you feel good about, you know, how to get there.
In-Person (01:15:21)
Let your people know that they can talk to us. and I think sometimes you it gets hesitant because they're like, they're gonna try and sell me. We're just gonna try and help you get clear on what you want and help you find the things that are gonna make you feel good about you know how to get there.
In-Person (01:15:39)
these guys know the roots, right? They'll say, if you're just like, I don't know how to eat.
YogiTriathlete (01:15:39)
these guys know the roots, right? They'll say, if you're just like, I don't know how to even
YogiTriathlete (01:15:43)
get there, reach out to me, I'll get you in touch with the team, and they'll tell you, out of BWI, take this route, out of Miami, take this route, out of SFO, go this route. They know the routes to get there and the ease and w what trips require an overnight and what trips don't. And so yeah, I think the biggest thing is like feel the hit, find f feel the hit, find the trip, put the deposit down.
In-Person (01:15:44)
Reach out to me, I'll get you in touch with the team, and they'll tell you, out of BWI, take this route, out of Miami, take this route, out of SFO, go this route. And so yeah, I think the biggest thing is like feel the hit, find f feel the hit, find the trip, put the deposit down.
In-Person (01:16:06)
That's it. and then
YogiTriathlete (01:16:06)
That's it. and then
YogiTriathlete (01:16:10)
create your life around that and work with your mindset 'cause there'll be a million reasons not to follow through on it. And that's what we're here for. So I'm always I'm not just a trip leader on eight days. I'm the trip leader all the time. So you can always message me without feeling any pressure that I'm gonna try and make you do something.
In-Person (01:16:10)
Create your life around that and work with your mindset. Because there'll be a million reasons not to follow through on it. And that's what we're here for. YogiTriathlete (01:16:28)
That is the version of an old me that doesn't exist anymore, but I'll help you.
YogiTriathlete (01:16:32)
I'll help you find that clarity. And I can put you in touch with the team if you don't want to talk to me. That's totally fine. you can talk to one of the team members. They're amazing. The woman who owns this business is amazing. I think we need to talk about her more. this is a women owned business and she's got her roots in adventure travel and she happens to have a yoga practice. She's not a yoga teacher. So yeah, that's what I would say is like feel it in your heart, find the trip, put the deposit down. Let's do it. Let's adventure.
In-Person (01:16:38)
Team members. They're amazing. The woman who owns this business is amazing. I think we need to talk about her more. this is a women-owned business, and she's got her roots in adventure travel, and she happens to have a yoga practice. She's not a yoga teacher. In-Person (01:17:01)
I'm a girl. So good.
YogiTriathlete (01:17:01)
I'm your girl.
In-Person (01:17:02)
Cool.
YogiTriathlete (01:17:03)
All right, she I think we gotta wrap this up. Anything else you wanna add? Like anything that you wanna take into your next chapter of racing and qualification? Yeah, I'm getting
In-Person (01:17:03)
I I think we gotta wrap this up. Anything else you wanna add? Like anything that you wanna take into your next chapter of racing and qualification? Yeah, I'm getting clear
In-Person (01:17:13)
on that. I'm finding some clarity onto what's next for me
YogiTriathlete (01:17:16)
Okay.
In-Person (01:17:16)
personally. which route to take and and what what feels really good. Haven't figured that out yet. but I do wanna say like all transparency, like
In-Person (01:17:25)
Leading into leaving here I had fears and doubts myself of flying with my bike out of a small airport, and being away from you for two weeks and leaving Clark alone in our place at least for a few hours until the the pet pet care came. So ha yeah, had a few days of like
YogiTriathlete (01:17:27)
fears and doubts myself of flying with my bike out of a small airport, and being away from you for two weeks and leaving Clark alone in our place at least for a few hours until the the pet You were feeling a little tender, huh? So ha yeah, had a few days of like
In-Person (01:17:48)
of of
In-Person (01:17:48)
feeling all that and then to go on these trips and then to stay in Airbnbs for two weeks by myself. Like I had a lot

Feeling all that, and then to go on these trips and then to stay in Airbnbs for two weeks by myself. Like I had a lot.
In-Person (01:17:57)
of alone time. A lot of alone time. Which I love I I loved being alone. But it was also nice to be in dip my toes in the community, you know, teaching yoga and going down to the village and and all that. But I wanna say like
YogiTriathlete (01:18:00)
I love I I loved being alone. But it was also nice to be in dip my toes in the community, you know, teaching yoga and going down to the village and and all that. But I wanna say like
In-Person (01:18:12)
It's important to acknowledge that you have these fears and doubts, but also that you're capable of working with them so that you can get to the other side of them and the unknown then becomes known. So
YogiTriathlete (01:18:12)
It's important to acknowledge that you have these fears and doubts, but also that you're capable of working with them so that you can get to the other side of them and the unknown then becomes known. So
YogiTriathlete (01:18:26)
a lot of times we're we're just pumping the brakes and we're we're not gonna take the yoga adventure because we can't do it right now, it's too much. Or I'm not gonna go to this race because, you know, I don't know how to how to get from here to there and I don't know, you know, what I'm gonna what my training's gonna like.
In-Person (01:18:26)

like. Just have the experience, guys. When you move forward in spite of the fear and doubt, you're gonna get get on the other side of it with a lot more information.
YogiTriathlete (01:18:43)
Have the experience, guys. When you move forward in spite of the fear and doubt, you're gonna get on the other side of it with a lot more information and
In-Person (01:18:52)
And honestly a lot more confidence in how you manage those uncertainties until they become more certain. So yes, I didn't get the two qualifications I wanted, but I walked away with
YogiTriathlete (01:18:53)
honestly a lot more confidence in how you manage those uncertainties until they become more certain. So, yes, I didn't get the two qualifications I wanted, but I walked away with.
YogiTriathlete (01:19:07)
so much more clarity and
In-Person (01:19:07)
so much more clarity and
YogiTriathlete (01:19:10)
insight into how I navigate challenge, how I navigate fear, how I navigate going into the unknown, again and again.
In-Person (01:19:10)
insight into how I navigate challenge, how I navigate fear, how I navigate going into the unknown, again and again
In-Person (01:19:17)
and again. And to me, that's why we walk this path to learn and grow and get to know ourselves and see who we are outside of the routine that we practice every single day into an environment which we're not so familiar with until we become familiar with it. So
YogiTriathlete (01:19:19)
me that's why we walk this path to learn and grow and get to know ourselves and see who we are outside of the routine that we practice every single day into an environment which we're not so familiar with until we become familiar with it. So
YogiTriathlete (01:19:36)
keep going guys you feel that hit
In-Person (01:19:36)
Keep going, guys. You feel that hit,
In-Person (01:19:39)
pull the trigger, sign up for the race, sign up for the adventure, come to Costa Rica with us next May. Like put yourself, and if you want to learn this stuff quickly, like fast track yourself, come to this Costa Rica retreat. Really, it's it's gonna be a big immersion into yes, yoga mindset, swimming, running, all of those things.
YogiTriathlete (01:19:39)

again, the conversations on the side that you're gonna have with.
In-Person (01:20:03)
Again, the conversations on the side that you're gonna have with
In-Person (01:20:06)
the like minded athletes that are there and with both of us, the little conversations. They're so valuable in moving that needle forward to where you wanna go, but may have been stuck in a certain point for so long, not knowing or or willing to get to where you wanna go. I'm

I'm really excited about the final night. We rented this catamaran, which we did this year. I mean,
In-Person (01:20:23)
