OUR
FOUNDERS
We see each of our athletes for their possibilities, not their limitations
And we guide and coach each athlete to see the same in themselves
Everywhere you go, there you are.Â
Regardless of what you change in your surroundings.
This holds true in your athletic journey as well. You can change coaches, races, buy new gear and equipment, but until you start working from within, the roadblocks you continually run in to are going to continue to show up.Â
When we sold our home in 2016, got rid of our material possessions, and moved into our Honda Fit for an adventure across the country, we were hoping to find a new home in California. With no budget, no timeline, and nothing but ourselves, we had an 'aha' moment a few miles into our 7,000-mile trek. We realized that while we could shed our belongings, we couldn't escape ourselves and the mental 'stuff' we carried. It was then that we understood: true change starts from within. Without living a life dedicated to being truly mindful and focused on holistic wellness, nothing in our external world, or our athletic journey, would ever truly transform.
This is our dharma.
This is our purpose.
YogiTriathlete holds a recipe for life and sport that no one else has ever brought to the endurance sports space.
No one else trains the mind the way we do. We teach the 'how.'
We don’t just tell our athletes to be calm; we show them how. We don’t just tell them to be positive; we guide them on how to achieve it, explaining the philosophy and science behind it all.
We are living examples of what is possible when you train your mind, go after your dreams and ascend all the mountains that spring up in the way.Â
THE ROOTS
We were at the point in our lives where we were 'supposed' to be - good jobs, financially secure, a beautiful home. But instead of feeling joy, we felt like we were choking on it all.
There was an undeniable pull towards something more meaningful. Discover how we found our true passion and purpose, and how it transformed everything.Â

Get to know Jess & BJ betterYogiTriathlete Founders Receive Peace Run Torch Bearer Award in San Diego
Congratulations to Jess and BJ Gumkowski, triathlon coaches and ‪YogiTritathlete founders, who received the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run Torch Bearer Award at the Sri Chinmoy Peace Garden in Normal Heights, San Diego, California, on June 1st, 2024. The Sri Chinmoy Centre first met them when they interviewed our member Harita Davies about her experience completing the 3100 Mile Race for their super inspiring podcast. They help athletes become the best they can be by integrating body, heart, mind and soul, and their philosophy is greatly aligned with Sri Chinmoy's. It has been a great joy to connect with them both, and the Sri Chinmoy Centre looks forward to connecting more in the future!
