Verna Volker - Founder of Native Women Running Giving Voice to the Voiceless
Our guest is Verna Volker; she is a Hoka One One Global Ambassador, a runner, a mom, and a wife living now in Minnesota but born into and still very much a part of the Navajo Nation.
Verna is the founder of Native Women Running who’s mission is to be a community that features and encourages Native women runners on and off the reservation to gain more visibility in the running world. Verna began her running life in 2009, and although it was initially a means for weight loss, she found, what so many of us find, a journey within that drives us to expand, serve and live with deeper meaning.
Through Native Women Running, Verna is shining a bright light on the intense truths of being a native woman and giving voice to the voiceless. Since its inception, Native Women Running has evolved into a community of inspiration, motivation, and visibility. Verna’s hope is for native women to find belonging within the sisterhood that she has created.
