“Brittany Friedrich, You are an Ironman!”
These are the words that Brittany imagined hearing for her 365 days of training, mental preparation and nutrition practice. Realized in a words cannot describe type of way on Sunday, July 24, 2016 when she crossed the finish line at Ironman Lake Placid. Not only a finish but an impressive race execution placing her 4th overall in her division. A competitive swimmer for most of her life she exited the water in 2nd place missing the ROKA First Out of the Water Award by 2 seconds. She describes the swim as a “madhouse”, but a seasoned pro in the water the craziness of the experience had little effect on her performance. She sailed through the day with spot on nutrition, resiliency and smart decisions taking some insight from our IMLP course preview podcast.
Brittany dishes about growing up in the Adirondacks and her earliest memories of Ironman Lake Placid, her inspiration to sign up, training and race day adventure. She shares her wisdom on how to set big goals and reach them and lends words of encouragement for those who don’t think they can reach their dreams.
We’re so excited for Brittany’s top notch performance on Sunday and look forward to seeing this YogiTriathlete thrive in multi-sport and beyond.
