With a background in swimming and dance, Paula Findlay launched her triathlon career with a win at her first race. In the years following she blazed a winning streak trail at the WTS World Championship event level and rocketed herself into the spotlight. Quickly she became Canada’s medal hope in the 2012 London Olympics and her path appeared to be set. Everything said that she would be the world’s best on race day but her body was heading in the opposite direction. Paula opens up about riding the edge of injury during her Olympic prep and the incredible pressure that she felt during that time in her life.

Paula went to London having been able to get a good amount of training in despite a full-blown hip injury and she raced her race. An execution that was far from what she dreamed of and one that left her in dead last place. She shares with us about her experience at the Olympics, how she navigated the aftermath and the unfinished business that she plans to complete in Tokyo 2020.

Paula is currently training in Southern California as the most recent member of Paulo Sousa’s Triathlon Squad. Out of her comfort zone is where she is right now and she is the first to say that it’s exactly where she needs to be. Paula will be returning to WTS racing this year but first, she’ll be tackling the Half Ironman distance starting with Oceanside in just a few weeks. After great success last year at her first 70.3 in Austin where she placed second, Paula is excited about exploring more miles on race day and we’re excited to follow this amazing athlete into her future.
